What is ORM ?

ORM stands for object/relational mapping. ORM is the automated persistence of objects in a Java application to the tables in a relational database.

What are ORM features ?

An ORM solution consists of the following features:
- Do Translation of database results into in memory Java (or any other application language) objects.
- API for doing basic database functionality with simpler/smaller steps.
- API to express queries referring to classes
- Facilities to specify meta data.
- Optimization facilities : caching, dirty checking,lazy loading
